Abdy Wunanto Hasan, a student of the Master\u2019s Program in Marine Science, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Universitas Hasanuddin, participated as a presenter at **the 5th Sharks International Conference, or Sharks International 2026 (SI2026)*. During the conference, Abdy delivered a speed-talk presentation entitled *\u201cHabitat Segregation and Residency of Whale Sharks between the Sunda and Sahul Shelves: Evidence from Fin-Mount Satellite Tracking Data<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study examined habitat segregation and residency patterns of whale sharks across the Sunda and Sahul Shelves using satellite-tracking data collected from fin-mounted tags. The research provides relevant scientific information for improving the understanding of whale shark movements and habitat use and supporting the effective management and conservation of the species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharks International is the world\u2019s largest recurring conference dedicated to the research and conservation of sharks, rays, and other chondrichthyan species. It brings together scientists, conservation practitioners, fisheries managers, students, policymakers, and funding institutions from around the world to promote collaboration and science-based conservation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdy\u2019s participation in this international scientific forum reflects the active contribution of the Master\u2019s Program in Marine Science at Universitas Hasanuddin to marine research development and global scientific knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
